KrishoSaathi Marketplace

KrishoSaathi Marketplace directly connects farmers with verified buyers, input dealers, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) — eliminating middlemen and ensuring farmers get fair prices for their produce. List your crops, find buyers, discover input shops, and join FPOs — all in one place.

1The Middleman Problem in Indian Agriculture

Indian farmers receive only 15–35% of the final consumer price for their produce. The rest goes to a chain of middlemen — local traders (arthiyas), commission agents, transporters, wholesalers, and retailers. THE CHAIN FOR A ₹40/kg TOMATO IN A CITY: - Farmer receives: ₹8–12/kg (20–30%) - Village trader margin: ₹3–5/kg - Transport to city: ₹2–3/kg - City wholesaler: ₹5–8/kg - Retailer: ₹12–15/kg - Consumer pays: ₹40/kg KrishoSaathi Marketplace aims to COMPRESS this chain by directly connecting farmers with: - City-based wholesale buyers (hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, processors) - Direct consumer groups (apartment societies, bulk buyers) - Export-oriented buyers (for premium quality produce) - Government procurement agencies By removing 2–3 layers of middlemen, farmers can potentially earn 40–60% more per quintal.
