A "mandi" (Agricultural Produce Market Committee — APMC) is the wholesale market where farmers sell their harvested crops to traders and processors. The price at which a crop is sold in a mandi on a given day is the "mandi price." KrishoSaathi tracks three price points for each crop at each mandi: MINIMUM PRICE (Min): The lowest price at which the crop was sold in that mandi on that day. This represents the floor — if your crop's quality is below average, you may receive this price. MODAL PRICE (Most Common): The price at which the maximum volume of the crop was traded. This is the most representative price and the one KrishoSaathi highlights in its advisory. When KrishoSaathi says "Rice is ₹2,450/quintal in Guwahati," it refers to the modal price. MAXIMUM PRICE (Max): The highest price fetched on that day. Premium quality, early-season, or specially graded produce may fetch this price. All prices are per QUINTAL (100 kg) unless otherwise stated.

KrishoSaathi's AI analyses current mandi prices against a 30-day historical average and the Government's MSP to give you a clear recommendation: ✅ SELL NOW: Triggered when current modal price is 10% or more ABOVE the 30-day average. This means the market is at a relative high — ideal time to sell before prices correct downward. Example: "Rice modal price ₹2,800 — 12% above 30-day avg of ₹2,500. Sell now." ⏳ HOLD: Triggered when current price is within ±5% of the 30-day average, or when price is trending upward. Selling now gives average returns — if you have storage, waiting may bring better prices. Example: "Wheat price ₹2,430 — stable near avg ₹2,420.
